I am curious if anyone is running TRP on a 4-stroke 150/175? If I was to buy new motor, can I buy one w/o lower unit so Im not paying for something that's coming off immediately? Also Ive heard that even though you can buy a brand new TRP from year discontinued that Yamaha will not warranty like they will an older year model, new single prop. It may not be worth it but Id sure like 4wd on my boat. If it has to be that I spend $11,000 on a motor, then $4,500 on a TRP that's not gonna happen. any thoughts? Info im not aware of? I am more than likely still gonna do the Waverunner build, but man Im getting Short-Time till I can buy, prolly 60 days. Kinda like in Step-Brothers where Will Ferrell says he feels like lightening struck the tip of his *****, I am THAT excited!

Whoa , thàt IS excited ! It is a rush . I don't know about the TRP except that when I bought my boat in 2005 I considered a TRP , but the potential problems did not warrant the expense . I had a '98' Bay Stealth with the 150hp TRP. The hole shots were really good, you were up on plane in a few feet. There was a little sacrifice on the top end. That said, the rebuild cost on those units is pretty steep, twice the props means twice the gears. You can get good start performance with the 150 - 4 stroke using your tilt and a jack plate without the expense of a TRP. Just my 2 cents worth.
