"Hey Hillary, regarding the Benghazi Attack on 9/11-we'll just blame it on that movie, not my total lack of security. By the way, what's so significant about 9/11 anyway-was that a date my buddy Bill Ayers of the Weather Underground blew up a government building?" asked Obama to Hillary. X2 what WEA said. I love fisherman within a reasonable distance when I am hunting. Especially that first boat that runs through the roost.
I have many more problems with jack asses burning shorelines almost running over my spread.
One time I had a flats cat run within 15 feet of where I was sitting. Funny part was they turned around in time to notice us dropping 2 sprigs they disturbed from the marsh behind us.

Sounds like most feel I'm the bad guy... Thanks for the thoughts anyway. Like I said, I'm a duck hunter too, which makes it even more frustrating as the blinds are in a really lousy location for ducks.
I usually manage to wait 'em out or have had them give up on the coots and water turkeys to come out and fish too. Some are friendly, some are just civil, while others have unleashed a barrage of obscenities and threatened to shoot us. If there was a better spot to fish, I wouldn't bother, but it consistently produces for me year in and year out.
Trying to "out-Early 'em" makes no sense... as the fishing isn't good until the sun has been up a while. I have been tempted to grab my deeks and chuck 'em out early then head elsewhere. Maybe put a cardboard silhouette or straw man in the blind to keep 'em away...

Guys have built blinds in and around a lot of S. shore line coves. I run in the dark, and if I pull into a cove to wade, I won't even know there are duck hunters there. No boat, no light, no hunters! If it's dawn and I see a spread or heads sticking outa a brushed blind, I move on to the next spot.
There are a couple of blinds on peninsulas between two coves and I'll be damned if I'm gonna give up that much water for two duck hunters."GET OFF MY REEF!"

Galveston Bay area supposedly has 232 Miles of shoreline and 600sq miles of open water.
Plenty of room for everyone to do their thing. When I did duck hunt I preferred jumping ponds and laying rags down in a rice field to attract ducks and geese than any bay or shoreline. Last time I went to bay in a boat and sat in a sunken wooden blind I lost a great bluing job on a Winchester Model 12 pump from the salt spray and cold. popped right off even though I had axle grease rubbed on all the exposed steel.
To each his own and honor another sportmans temporary residence. Lead or steel shot always covers up a steel hook. Have at them ducks or geese and I'll give you plenty of space."Nobody's so poor that somebody can't get rich screwing 'em."

Around the mouth of Wharton Camp Bayou and that marsh behind was duck and goose paradise. Hard to get too but worth the effort. Haven't tried goin up the bayou there in years but it was lined with oyster reefs with guts and drop-offs and was always good for reds. That shoreline in that area we used to set trotlines with red surveyers tape on the hooks and catch redfish and trout. Flounder beds also. Nice sandy bottom easy walking. Looks like on Google earth there are geotubes there now.Originally posted by kenny View PostI'd guess that Galveston's West Bay shoreline is the worst duck hunting in the system. When I duck hunted a lot, I never hunted West bay. The ICW to 2004 marsh is a different story!"Nobody's so poor that somebody can't get rich screwing 'em."

No shiat, but a successful fisherman many times also has limited option depending on wind directions, and tide levels.Originally posted by Mapman View PostSuccessful fishermen attempt to pattern their fish. If you feel fish are at a certain depth, shell or mud, water temperature and someone is at that spot, go to another spot with those factors."GET OFF MY REEF!"
