Proposals are coming from TPW for a controversial change to lower the trout limit to five fish AND possibly to extend the gigging prohibition on flounder beyond November.

Have to have a subscription to read article.

Rather see a slot on trout 17-24" maybe a few tags for over 24. All for gigging limit extension and a 24hr possession limit of 5 for flounder as well as a slot of 17-21" on all flounder with a 1 over 21 per day.

The bastages should lower the minimum length for redfish to 16 inches. 20 inches is ridiculous.

I concur. Seems like they just keep making it harder and harder to keep fish.

fine with me, I release most of my fish anyway.
the fishing was good,it was the catching that was bad.

TP&W has already decided what they want to do. Scoping meetings are a perfunctory step in their dog & pony show that gives the illusion of shared governance.

Still nicer to say you threw back a limit of keepers not dinks

Right on, coach. If that be the case, I'd keep a few for the grease.

That's what I like about fishing with you and Termo. We can go back day after tomorrow and catch 'em again. Lol.

Agree 100%..... Makes you wonder if these continuous new laws are created for just the sake of creating them and/or to justify their existence and paycheck.

I'd like to see the scientific data these proposed regs are based on. I'm almost certain that there's a political agenda that's fueling all of this nonsense.

If TP&W wanted to get serious about trout conservation, they would make croaker a game fish. If they have limits on gar, sheephead, gafftop and mullet, they should put limits on croaker too. I agree regulations for redfish should be changed too, something like 18-27", five a day.

I totally agree with making croaker a game fish.

I looked all over the Interwebs and there is no mention of regulating seatrout, flounder, or any fish in Texas right now. There are no scoping meetings, proposed rules, new studies, nothing on TPWD websites, 2Cool, several Texas fishing forums, Google, or nothing. Not a peep about new fish regulations anywhere. I couldn't read the David Sykes article because of the paywall so I wonder ... has David been drinking too much again?
