  • Launching at the Jamaica Beach ramp?

Years ago, a friend had a place at Jamaica Beach. He told me that it wouldn't be any problem if I were to launch my boat at the JB ramp. Is that still true?

I am NOT a Jamaica Beach, nor even a Galveston... resident. I would mostly only be launching during the week, and fishing Jumbile.

    thanks Rich

Thanks, OK second question... any fish still in Jumbile??? ha Ha ?

It has been years, but I remember a deep hole that TPWD had dug in the middle that was always fun to drift over. Rich

I haven't been there in a whole. See if Harvey will chime in. He used to fish there a lot.

Used to be a gut in there that held fish. Have friends that got commercial license and gigged over 300 flounder over a weekend in there back in the day. I'm busy at the moment fishing out Termo's honey holes.

That area is MUCH bigger than the one I remember. There was only the "vertical" North/South middle stripe back then, or, at least, that is all we could see when the water was clear. Long before Google Earth.....

The guy sold his house a year or two ago. We hadn't fished much in the last ten years. Rich

A none resident can launch at jamaica beach ramp ? Is this a look like you belong there thing ? Sea isle has a locked chain across the ramp ......guard dogs , predator drones , and punji pits to keep nonresidents out .

I have not seen any signs or notices that the JB ramp is residence only. It will probably get private if the "non-residence guests" start trashing the place. For some reason there is usually a group of folks that manage to screw up a good thing. They lock the Sea Isle ramp so the marina can charge you to use theirs.

OK I am learning some things today. What is the charge for the Sea Isla ramp. please? I don't mind paying a few bucks to fish different areas. Heck, I have to pay ten bucks to launch at Waterman's now. rich

They have a Public ramp at Jamaca Beach. It's Free. I called the J.B. City Hall a few months ago.
Only warning they told me was make sure you park correctly.

It has been a while since I put in at Sea Isle. There is a building right there to pay.
Big problem though is the canal is so full of sand you can bairly get the boat off your trailer.
