  • Warning: West End Theft-Sea Isle

I wanted to post up to warn fall/wintertime fisherman to keep them from having to be victimized like I was this past Friday night. I unloaded my gear Friday evening to get ready to fish on Saturday morning, but someone decided they needed all my gear more than I did. The POS who took it knew there are less eyeballs watching during this time of year. I probably shouldn't have been so naïve and stupid to expect that if I left it out under the house that it would be there the next day, but....This is just a warning to be careful and protect your gear under lock and key when you are down fishing, whether it be at your residence, in a boat, truck, etc, etc. It took me many years to accumulate some nice fishing equipment(2 rods/reels, wading belt, boga, large tackle box with a full array of lures-including many pre-mirrolure corkies, etc etc), but I let down my guard and it took a thief less than a minute steal it from me. I was planning to come check out the weigh at the marina, but I was still too angry to enjoy it and we had to be in Clear Lake at 5pm. It really burns me to think some POS has my stuff, but I am thankful I decided to leave my nice waders in the car and that I have some other rods/reels to fall back on. I will probably call the pawn shops near Galveston, but I am sure nothing will materialize as to the whereabouts of the gear. Lesson learned the hard way....can't trust anybody anymore and that is truly a shame.

I feel your pain...still rebuying stuff from when my truck and all my gear inside was stolen from my driveway...there is no way to explain the anger that causes someone til it happens to you. I hope some justice falls on those who do that sort of thing. But if not in the end they will have to answer to the lord. My feelings go out to you.

Harry that sucks...Ill tell Roy about it and see if they see any of it or hear on the street about it. Maybe they can find out something about the diickless POS that stole it. I got plenty of rods and stuff if you need to use them in the meantime.

Check the pawn shops personally-those pawn dealers paid the scumbag and they aint happy about giving your stuff back to you, so expect a "No, I aint got it" answer.

My brother saw some "Obama supporters" taking stuff from under his neighbor's house and followed em while calling the police-he followed em all the way from sea isle to the seawall before GPD caught up and the GPD arrested the scum and handed my brother the neighbor's stuff. The scum were on their way back to south Houston with a whole pickup truck full of stolen stuff. They cruise around looking for stuff to steal.

Thanks JT! I talked to the GPD so I could get a police report number and they said there were others who reported the same exact scenario in Sea Isle that same evening... one on Zapata in Sea Isle. Tell Roy et al thanks for keeping an eye out.

I had a tackle box lifted out of the back of my truck about 10 years ago. Having to replace all of it at once is a real hit on the wallet.
Sorry you had that happen, I know how bad it sucks to try and figure out what you had, what you used and what you need to replace.

My son had a brand new Curado reel that was a birthday gift stolen from under our house in Sea Isle 3 weeks ago. Sorry to hear about the POS's got your stuff. I guess we have to keep everything under lock & key. I hope they dont start getting gear from our boats the night before a fishing trip.

Gotta be a company out there to insert tracking devices for retrieval for small objects.
Kinda like they do cats and dogs.
That's a hit on anyones wallet when replacing fishing and hunting gear or sentimental gifts that usually last lifetimes.

                        Harry (et al),

DIY Security web cams are getting pretty inexpensive these days. If not that, a game cam.
I've got web cams and swear by them.

Thanks for posting the notice and I hope the guys get caught.

Don't leave your rods/tackle overnight in the boat.
