I cannot imagine one that size hitting Freeport. I remember well Carla in 61(Cat.4). Daddy let us outside only one time in the 5 days we were stuck in the house to lean into the wind. He ran his gas pumps(service station) with a lawn mower and pulleys and gave out gasoline and kerosene. He sold white gas also for the boaters and even put that in cars when he ran outa gasoline.
When it was over he took us to the Brazos where it crossed 1462 and the water was over the high lines near the river itself.
The railroad crossing what is now 2917 at the old Liverpool School had storm debris piled up to the tracks. Boats, timbers, dead cows.
Went to the island also and I remember bathtubs hanging in air by drain pipes in lots of homes on broadway.
I'm praying for those folks that live in the Phillipines. They definitely will need help during and after that storm.

Hard to get an idea of 200 mph wind. Sure hope they are prepared but how prepared could u be for something like that. Here we can get in our cars and retreat. So many if not most there dont have that luxury. Hope all comes out as good as possible.
Big storm . We were holed up at home in Houston , Montrose area . I remember we were able to go outside when the eye passed over and look at the destruction . Wind started to pick up again and we scurried back inside .

Agreed, WalkinWader....200mph winds, hard to wrap your head around that! Makes ya really thankful for what we have though, most of those people really have no way to get to safety...By the way, my parents hadnt even met yet in '61!
Geez, 235 mph, those poor dear people. And 23 foot surge. We would never know how to deal with that, and I'm sure they dont know how to deal with this either. That is not even part of my imagination. Sure makes me bow my head.
