North Winds?

What will these strong north winds do to the bay's clarity and water level? The wind is supposed to be from the north 25-35mph today, 20-30 overnight and 10-20 tomorrow. Will this wind blow some of the water out of the bay? Could this and the cold temps (57 tomorrow morning in Galveston) really trigger the flounder?

Yes it will stir up the water and push out some tide and yes trigger the flounder run full force.

Hopefully it will push some of this water out of the bay finally so the fish will get a little more concentrated.

I was out in Christmas until noon and it's pushing the dirty water in from Bastrop.It was green when I started but getting brown on the north shoreline when I left.Chocolate was dirty all the way to the wye.

Very hard to wade fish in wind like this. You need a boat to find the sea grass beds, which tend to have cleaner water. The fish will be along the line of the brown water and the cleaner water. I'm down South on the Lower Laguna Madre but there are a half dozen boats tearing it up on bait balls along those grass beds. If the entire bay is blown brown, well, I hope the beer was good.

Sustained high north winds can drop the water level up to two feet . Concentrates fish to deeper water . Takes 2-3 days for cold àir to drop water temperature .
