Glad you are here!!! Drift fishing on the west side (green buoys) between the 2004 bridge and about the 30th buoy is a great place to start. Closer to shore or right off channel lots of shell and hard sand. Pay attention to depth of water and bottom material. High tide or incoming with motor up it will be hard to get beached, but be extremely careful drifting and ready to cast an anchor. Have a good pole handy for pushing and maneuvering boat. I like to use live bait from Lutes which is about a 7-10minute ride up from bridge or you can also just launch from there. Anywhere in the bayou to the bridge is another good place to find fish. Nice cuts and sloughs to find baitfish running and several flounder holes on drop offs and drains can be fished also. Good luck jman and hope to see you out !!

Get the map. follow the grass in the bayou. look for mud boils, nervous bait, or bait blowing up. Look for structure.. stuff sticking out of the water near the grass. You can try fishing the corners in the bayou... too boring for me but I ALWAYS see boats there. Pay close attention to the spots always with boats on them. New Bayou is nice. Amerada cut is good but shallow. I dont know what boat you have. You can launch in Hall's Bayou and stay busy alllll day with RatLTraps. Start small. Dont go nuts thinking you can fly 50mph anywhere across that place. Pay close attention to the bouy markers. Do some online potlickin.

Thanks for the maps. I understand the blue fish. what do the green stars and blue pink and green balloons indicate.

Some of them are just for notes I have taken. On my interactive map I can click the balloon and itll tell me what I wrote. Mostly what species and size I caught. Sometimes it's just the name of the location. Everywhere marked on there has been good for me.

Chocolate has no secret hot spots where there are always fish. There are a lot of places there could be fish. You just have to hit all the spots until you find them.

For safety purposes, spend your first several trips learning to navigate the bay. Chocolate Bay is riddled with old spoils. Watch the paths other boats take. Spend sometime on Google Earth and learn the layout. People do get hurt and boats get ruined when spoils are hit while on plane.
