  • Never Cut Corners

South wind, light seas making for smooth water right now. I took my kayak out this morning for some play time.

Never cut corners! I noticed a know in the middle of my tippet this morning when I picked up my 8wt off the front porch. I figured - what the heck - and let it go.

While fishing, I drifted into a school of something BIG, and hooked up quickly. It took about a minute for my tippet to break - at that g**mnd knot. I worked feverishly to tie on another clouser. It seemed like an eternity to get that tippet knot finished because my hands were shaking so much - I could see those big 'uns right under me. But, by the time I got the knot done, I had lost the school.

    Never cut corners.
