Chun's Pier

Does anybody that posts here know what the plans are for Chun's Pier in Cold Pass? They lowered the deck about 2 or 3 feet and have all new boards on the top.

Is somebody going to open that up to the public or what?

I've never heard anyone refer to it as Chun's pier. Everyone always calls it the T pier. I'd be interested to know the history as I only started fishing the area in 2005. The house on the property was just falling down and everything had been for sale since just after Ike. They had fixed up the deck on the pier in an ersatz manner, but nothing else had been done, save for the addition of for sale signs. Just recently the property was sold. The house was still there 2 weeks ago, but it's completely gone now. There are some big machines over by the pier, but I haven't had a close look. I assume they're fixin' it up right.

But yep, it's private property, so unless you know the folks, you're going to have to wade there, or take a boat.

I actually called and asked the sale price after Ike.
Try $970,000.
Needless to say I didn't buy the property. LMAO.
They've torn down the old house and built up a new pad for a house.
Somebody is dropping a lot of $ on it.

Dr. Chun (or maybe Choon?), white dude, was who had it built is the story I heard when I asked the history of it. I was told all the local folks refer to it a Chun's pier.

Also,i think the asking price had dropped to just under 300k recently.

It would have made a great campground location. Even with the county park right down the road, it would have been snowbird central if you would have built a nice campground with concrete pads, a laundry and access to that pier to fish. I didn't have the 300k for the property, let alone the 500K it would take to renovate/construct/advertise, but it would have been a money maker I think if somebody could have strung the money together. Then again if you have that sort of money, there are probably better avenues of investment than a geriatric campground for yankees. But, it would have been enough of a return to support a couple if their goal was to make enough to get by to live on the coast.
