Welcome! Better to launch at Lutes so no one messes with your stuff. They are good people over there as have anything you might need for your excursion as well.
I quit fishing Chocolate as Deano and Duane were always in my preferred spots when I got there!

Everybody has their favorite lure for flounder - I'd check out Chickenboy. He has his own forum on here and makes some great baits that work well. My kids tear em up using nuclear chicken gulp shrimp as well. As far as live bait for flounder I've always preferred finger mullet or mud minnows fished on the bottom.Shut up and FISH!!

My flounder bait is chartreuse curly tail 4 inch gulp on a 3/8 jig head . I bite off a little of the head to make it a little shorter and more natural profile so they are more likely to take it all in and not just teeth it . The 3 inch doesn't have as fat a body . That's why I use the 4 inch . Of course you can cut off some of the head with a knife , but then you miss the added benefit of the wake you up quickly early in the morning factor by the biting method . The Gulp taste will snap you back to conscienceness . Also your breath will keep potlickers away . I'm just too lazy to use a knive . Bounce it along drop offs and along grassy shorelines .GEORGE A. Best way to catch flounder is to fish in a kayak . You can work bayou edges , mouths , drains effectively and thoroughly . Places you can't boat or wade . I love flounder fishing. Neatest catch was sitting on the kayak up against the grass with my feet in the water crab walking and I see a flounder farther up the shore . I took out a soft body slow sink paddle tail with a treble hook under the middle of the belly . Threw it past the flounder and worked it bobbing under the surface to it . I saw the fish blast off the bottom and inhale it . Only time I saw a flounder actually make the strike . About 1 1/2 foot or less of water . CoolGEORGE A. BRANARD, COLOR SERGEANT, CO.
