I've used braided before but had a couple of questions. First how do you get the line to not get pinched every time you set the hook then go to cast again? What is a decent brand to use? And last, best line to use for a leader? Plan on running this line on my core and one of my curados, appreciate the help.

I've used power pro for a while now on my curados and my new cronarch. Haven't had issues with it binding in the spool. Unless I'm hung up on the bottom towing the boat with my drag trying to get it to break free.

One reel with power pro braid, mono first then braid to fill the spool. Other reel with mono. Fish the same way, catch the same fish. Only difference I've seen is no stretch on braid. Lord Bless.

Twenty pound PowerPro has a diameter equivalent to 6 pound monofilament line. You can go to 30# braid which is the same as 8# mono. Bigger than that, you're wasting your money or are into oversize reds, jetty tuna, macks, and sharks. I use 3 feet of good 20-30# mono as a leader with a double-Uni knot - there are a lot of splice knots out there.
I don't use fluorocarbon leader because it has no stretch and the line tends to slip a lot. That little 3-feet of leader is your only shock absorber. I've known fishermen to bend hooks because of using braid with heady-duty leaders.
I spool the whole thing NOT QUITE full of braid but I use a pair of fishing gloves to really tighten down the line on the spool. I've never had a problem although some complain about wind knots. Two things you can do for that: (1) never over-fill your braided line on the spool and (2) spend a few bucks on FINS "WindTamer." It's good line and it's Made in the USA. Also, (3) I drift fish and I always cast downwind. Casting into the wind or into the sun at dawn and dusk is my biggest problem.

I agree with Swells on his choice of line. I have been using Fins Braid for a few years now, and have
never had a problem with it. I started using it when we were in Florida, catching Snook and Grouper,
nice strong line that casts very smooth, as it is round, and not flat like most other Braids.
Although it is a little pricey, it is well worth the money as you don't go through it as fast, and
it lasts at least two seasons, if you tack care of it.
You can find it at "Dicks", Ebay and their website here: http://www.finsfishing.com/wind.aspx."Laissez les bons temps rouler"

Yep, spoon on about 15 - 30 yards of mono first as a backer. The mono will stop any slippage of the braid on the spool and make sure you can fill it up. The 20 cuts down a little too much and doesn't have enough abrasion resistance for my taste. 30lb cast as good and doesn't dig in. I've found suffix performance braid so far to be my favorite. It's easier to get a backlash out of, doesn't dig in, frays less, and last longer than all the others i've tried. I was putting on my first spool that's what I'd put on. 40 and 50 work fine as well but may be overkill. you're talking tarpon territory ...or at least redfish territory.
For leader you can use either mono or 100% fluorocarbon leader. The mono is fine for fishing over sand or deep reefs (15-20lb).I use the fluro in really heavy shell where I fish shallow for big trout and i'll use 30lb 100% fluorocarbon leader material for that. Make sure it's not a fluorocarbon line. Fluorocarbon line is a copolymer and doesn't have the toughness of the leader material.
