  • Bay boats in the marsh.

I was in one the small back lakes in the marsh with the decoys out and the mojo sitting kind of low to the water due to the high water and a bay boat comes through there at 1/3 throttle sending a massive wake my way, submerging the mojo for a second and messing my spread up.

I dislike when the tides run high so these guys with heavy boats think they know how to fish the marsh.

People are stupid. They think that slowing down is being courteous. I see it EVERY SINGLE WEEKEND. They don't understand that you've got to slow down all the way for it to be courteous. If the nose is up, you're just being a moron and pushing a bigger wake. It would be better if these idjits just went WOT.

          • And air boats . Sorry if you have one . I can see how they could be fun , but you can hear them a mile away . They get within 100 yards and its as loud as a 747 skimming over the water . When I see them , they have a small group on board sightseeing , not fishing or hunting .

Boaters education should be mandatory for first time boat owners. Some of these guys/girls don't even know the basics like which side of the channel you should be on.

I agree. When I get one I'll be hitting y'all all up for boating etiquette lessons and other advice.

TPWD offers a course for free or at a very low cost. I know that I took it when I was 12 so I could operate my 14 foot Jon boat by myself. It does teach you how to be a responsible boater.

I had a guy and his wife the other day come by my wife and I, powered down within 30 ft in a back lake cut - wave and then hole shot at 32 ft (they had no idea what they were doing). My wife just shakes her head and looks at me as I am hitting the switch for the power pole. Some of these people make me hate fishing on weekends. It is not what it used to be around here anymore. Thinking about starting to fish soley further south!
