  • Black and Decker 18 Volt Battery Overhaul - Cheap

When I bought my house, my parents gave me a B&D Firestorm 18 Volt tool package. Circular saw, reciprocating saw, sander, flashlight, and drill. Well the tools have taken all the beating I could give them. But the batteries are pathetic. They want $40 for a new one, and they just don't have much life in them. I've got 8 of them now and 4 of them are kaput and the rest aren't far behind. So I see one of these Harbor Freight batteries, and it looks just like a B&D battery. I buy one for $14.97 and take it home. I realize they're not the same, and I figure I just wasted $15. So I take both of the batteries apart and see the insides are exactly alike. I reckon there's gotta be a youtube on this. So I do a search and hit paydirt on the first try:

I'm not the handiest person, but I like fiddling with things, because sometimes things turn out right and it gives me a feeling of accomplishment. So I did exactly what the video showed and blam. I've got a battery that works better than the B&D did when it was new. So if you've got dead B&D batteries . . . . you know what to do. It's so easy, even Sandy can do it.

Thanks. A few weeks ago, in TN., my brother in law bought a whole box of B&D tools. The batteries were dead. Hope he didn't throw them out. Rich
