Last year's FWE Redfish Showdown tournament weigh in was a great time as always and it's entirely possible that I might have imbibed a few beers because I suddenly found my self vociferously bidding for a guided trip with Captain Barlow. Nobody was more stunned than I when I won the auction! I'd never been on a guided trip before and was quite relieved that I had that much money in my bank account, but it was for a good cause. So I was going fishing with Thomas. Well, as most of y'all know I still hadn't caught a keeper red and Barlow is a redfishing machine so it sounded like a great opportunity.
We scheduled once earlier this year but the wind was howling 40-45 so we gladly cancelled. Our opportunity finally came today.
Ibtsoom & I met up with Thomas at 6 this morning and put in at the dike for a day of fishing in East bay which was another first for me. We pulled in for a drift and first thing Thomas did was give me a heavier action rod to use than my standard light action rods. He got the drift set up and we went to work. I kept missing hits but they started reeling in keeper reds and I started to get a little worried. I had missed at least 8 when I finally set the hook on my first keeper:
27 7/8", 8.5 lbs!

Thanks Thomas for lifting the curse! And of course, thanks Mike for being the obsequious sidekick and cameraman.
One last shout out to Gater who made Barlow's great new cleaning table! Sweet!
