  • Saturday around the pass...

Despite the ugly weather managed to get out between noon and 3:30 on Saturday to chuck a bit. Started out in Chuch hill bayou and couldn't find much at all. With the water being so flippin' high figured I would burn some gas and check out some spots between the bayou and Christmas bay. I have a boat that will run real skinny but I was able to get to some places I have never been before. Had a blast blowing through the marshy areas.

While riding around came across a nice guts with heavy current pushing water through it. Looked kind of deep as well so I laid out the anchor and tried it there. Figured it would be a founder hole if anything. Second cast and I felt that THUMP and slight line tightness that those flattes do. Set the hook a tad too early I think and it shook lose after a short fight. Over the next hour and a half managed four small reds around 17" but that's still a lot of fun in my book. Finally caught me that flounder at 16" to go with them. Took that bad boy back with me for dinner Monday night!

A few hours on the water in crappy weather in the middle of the day still beats going to the office!

Thanks for the report. Saturday was tough fishing and any keepers were hard to come by.

You shoulda been out there today if you wanted bad weather. Talk about a DOWNPOUR! There's nothing I like better than those reds. I don't care how big they are, they are fun to catch. You shoulda come by the camp bro. FWE members are always welcome. Then again, I probably would have put you to work.
From 1970-1997, true heaven on Earth existed on the banks of Bayou Cook. "Hey Dad, Thanks for buying the Camp."

            Nice report Brad.
"Hey Hillary, regarding the Benghazi Attack on 9/11-we'll just blame it on that movie, not my total lack of security. By the way, what's so significant about 9/11 anyway-was that a date my buddy Bill Ayers of the Weather Underground blew up a government building?" asked Obama to Hillary. BEAUTIFY AMERICA, RUN OVER A LIBERAL, THEN BACK UP AND SEE IF HE'S DEAD.

I was out in the Surfside area Sat mid-day as well. Same story pretty much, way high tide, rat reds all day. A couple dink trout and one tater chip flounder but it was a good day. Finally got my father in law out on the water
