  • Courteous boater POC

Usually when I post up about other boaters it's about how they cut off my wade, potlicked, ect... I actually experienced something I haven't in awhile...a COURTEOUS boater. We set up for a long wade on a shallow stretch of shoreline looking for redfish. There was a boat anchored up against the bank, our plan was to wade our spot, and maybe past it if he ended up leaving. About halfway into our wade we see that he is starting to pack up and pull the anchor. Instead of turning up the radio and blasting out of there, he politely put down his trolling motor and eased out. Kudos to this guy and wish more people on the water would be respectful, we are all out there trying to do the same thing, have fun and catch fish. Cheers

You are so right and no one should be in that big a hurry!! Courtesy and manners goes a long long way especially fishing and hunting. Radios and huge engines are not needed when fishing IMHO. There is plenty of places and lots of water for everyone to enjoy!!

X2, I wish people would remember that we are all lucky to even have a place to fish and that everyone should relax, enjoy and smile

He's an experienced angler doing what he hopes others would do if the places were switched .

TTU - Good to hear and thanks for sharing. I fish a few times a year in POC and Seadrift areas and find they generally have the same problems we do (inexperienced weekenders and occassional potlickers) but our seems to be a little worse I guess because we are easier to access. For the record, I have experienced MANY courteous boaters in our beloved West Bay but, like a lot of other things, a few bad apples can spoil the whole bunch!

That's good to see but to be honest it would not have made much a difference if he fired up the big motor
and idled out of there. Gater

Because despite what same believe, it is not going to run the fish off. If anything it might help yo if you are wading towards him. Fish are not going to vacate the area because someone fired up the outboard or cranked up the stereo. Gater

Good to see there are people that were still brought up right. Getting to be rare these days. Lord Bless.
