  • New Boat

Well new to me anyway. Yes I know it is a bass boat, and no she won't see saltwater. I have gotten back into bass fishing with my daughter and son-in-law. My wife and son also prefer freshwater fishing so it seemed to be the right boat.

My son-in-law and I will be hitting Lake Fayette County this weekend for her first trip so wish us luck. Oh and if anyone has any tips for bass fishing this lake this time of year I'm all ears.

    New Boat

    Nice!
The way I hear it, all you have to do at Fayette County Lake is lower your net over the side and the fish jump in!

Throw the dogs in Feb when they are moving on the beds. Summer for numbers you can throw buzz baits over hydrilla or go deep in the lumber with plastic. patterns have the been the same forever that lake. It's so hot and the water is already heated so the big girls tend to get deeper. The young ones wont though and you jump them all day long once you find 'em.

I'm a worm, spinnerbait, buzzbait and rattle trap guy so it sounds like all we have to do is find them. Wonder what the rules are for potlicking on the lake........

Yep I remember testing out a new Skeeter at a tourny in 88, it was a real smoker. Not looking for a speedster, but being able to run from bad weather would be nice when needed.

Thanks yall but fishing might be off this weekend. Found a wiring problem with the boat. Not taking her out until I have everything fixed right.

Great boat. You use the same things for Amistad lake. Try a Zoom super fluke with a 3/0 or 4/0 worm hook with no weight. Bait casters work great with it. Never back lashed with this setup. When you cast out and see it disappear, start counting. The number of seconds almost match the depth. Caught lots of bass and strippers this way. Also try a lizard. They work during the summer also. Watch your rod, they will hit it hard. Hope this helps.

Thanks Wolf, if we get the wiring issue straightened out we might go try them in the morning.
