  • Rest in Peace: Nokia 6010 :( :( :(

For over 10 years my phone was a faithful and dependable device. Until yesterday when I put it down on my truck bumper while I fiddled with my trailer lights. It now rests peacefully on a lonely stretch of Louisiana HWY 23 between Belle Chasse and Port Sulphur. Today we actually drove down the highway slowly looking for it, to no avail. I know y'all made fun of me for my dinosaur phone, but I loved it anyway. So, if I had your number, I no longer have it. If that's what you wanted in the first place, then you're happy. LOL! If you want me to have your number again, give me a call after Monday and I'll put you in the new phone's memory. Headin' to the AT&T store tomorrow. I just hope they still offer something simple. I don't want to have to order a Jitterbug.

I've lost track of how many phones we've gone through with the teenagers. Fortunately, we learned quick to get phone insurance.

Sorry for your loss . A Louisiana lonely stretch of highway seems the proper resting place .

All others of my kind have long since passed. I just feel like I cant go on anymore in a world filled with text messaging and camera phones. All of the youngsters make fun of my small screen and laugh at my weight and my MIDI nokia ringtone. Sandy, you've been a faithful owner but I'm tired, my signal strength is weak and you need to move on to technology from the century in which you live. I've decided at the next opportunity to release you of the burden that I've become. If you're reading this I've long since gone on to the great technology recycling center in the sky. Maybe I'll get to see all of my sony walkman cousins and my motorola bag phone parents once again.

Until we meet again my friend..

Signal strength weak? Come on Mike. You're seriously shortchanging the advantages of that phone. I got signal with that where nobody got signal. Battery lasted for 5 days without recharge. Never a burden. No matter what phone I get, I will still refuse to turn the texting on.

I use to have a phone that was so old that i powered it up by inserting a key in the back to wind up the spring . I have a smart phone now and i love it . It grew on me , sandy , as i became more familiar with the new features . I can google info anywhere for instant gratification , there's a place for notes ( i use to have folded paper in my pocket for notes that i would loose or wash ) , i play chess , take pictures of things i need at the store or message to a vendor , check e-mail , weather / tide , swell apps , news , and even text - not alot . There's a whole new world out there waiting for you ! Or , not . Maybe the salvation army has an old phone you can buy .

Sandy, I remember that phone and gave you a hard time about it, but that is darn impressive. I think I have go through 10 phones in 10 years! Now that I think about it, man I spent some money on phones.
