  • Thoughts on West Bay this weekend - 13 July?

Hey all, firstly, this is a great group and perhaps one of the best I have found...credit to all who contribute!

I am from the UK but have been here for a few years now and enjoying every minute...more so now I am getting into the fishing..!

In the past year I have mainly surf fished from Matagorda, Quintana, etc. and have the opportunity to head out into West Bay this weekend...I am hearing that conditions will not be ideal but my theory is better out on the water than not!

Any thoughts on the conditions Saturday for West Bay - any likely good locations or tips that I could use? Likely target will be speckles but will be happy with anything!

    Thanks in advance.

I will be out there this weekend too, if nothing else, it's always good to be out on the water with friends and family. Whatever you decide on, make sure you are safe. Anyways, depending on how it looks out there, I will probably drift reefs with croaker for some trout. If the open bay is too much for my little flats boat to handle, then I will be tucked up in the marsh somewhere targeting drains with soft plastics and topwaters for reds and flounder. Feel free to ask if you need anymore help!

When in doubt , or if weather is "iff'y"
The answer is always go fish !

-Find your bait camp and boat launch
      -plan your rout
-get some fishing maps from academy ----- they may help and are a good refrence !
      -post questions , concerns

DOnt wade the San Louis Pass !

Howdy cousin ! My last name is Bowman . My fathers parents married in montrose , Scotland , immigrated to houston . Grandpa Bowman had a printing business near downtown . My mothers side , Branard , been in Houston since the early 1800's .
i read that Saturday will suppose to have a north wind that will flatten the surf unless Gulf forces increase the wave height . Swells forecast predicts flat Saturday surf . Well see . Welcome !
