  • Changing my name to RedSlayer!

Hit up Sea Isle again Sunday. I don't know what the deal was with the water, but there wasn't a trout to be found out there. We paddled our butts off all over the cove and fished HARD, but they just weren't around.

What was around though were the reds. We caught one rat red after another all morning off Snake Island and drifting the cove. We finally found some keepers on the grass beds in one of the channels. All were caught off Gulp pearl white shrimp with the chartreuse tails on a pretty slow retrieve.

We also saw a HUGE gar pop up by the geotubes...must have been 6-7 ft. Those things are freaky!

Oh, I forgot to mention! When it was time to head back, it was super-hot and we'd paddled VERY far from where we parked at the Sea Isle pier. We're sitting there talking about how much this was gonna suck when 2 guys on a boat rolled-by and asked us how we did. They then told us to get in the boat, tied the kayaks to the side, gave us cold waters, and towed us back to the truck. It was friggin awesome! Really nice guys!
