  • Anegada report (last one for September)

We fished again on the beach last night and caught 3 sharks - two blacktip and a lemon. We use cut ladyfish for bait. It is the best shark bait that I have found. Anegada has numerous interior salt ponds, but the only connection from any of them to the sea is through a narrow tidal flow creek. The creek usually has a good number of ladyfish on an incoming tide. I call the creek "the bait shop".

These are a few shots of me fly fishing for ladyfish yesterday afternoon on the creek.

The sharks that we caught last night were unremarkable - the lemon and one of the blacktips around three feet, and the other blacktip only a pup. Nancy (my wife) caught it - without knowing it. Her line had been in the water for almost an hour with no action, so she reeled it in - to find a dead shark on her hook.

We leave Anegada this afternoon on the 5:00PM ferry, overnight on Tortola, and fly back to Houston tomorrow.

Today is pack-up day. We rent our cottage out when we are not here, so all of our personal stuff (and there it LOTS of it) has to be packed and stored away in our private closet. It usually takes most of the day to clean up all the fishing gear, pack everything into containers, etc. so that we can catch the 5:00PM ferry to Tortola. The closet is large, but we when we leave it is full - stacked right to the door. The good thing about the closet is that it does limit how much stuff we keep here.

So - time to go get busy cleaning the yaks and fishing gear.

      Yep, thanks for sharing,
Next time your there, I bet, I can cut your packing time in half. Then we could still fish one more half day

Thanks for all the post, it makes me feel alive seeing that water! By the way, might be interested in renting your place some time.
