  • Grass and flatties

Hey guys, ive been noticing that this seagrass over the past few years has taken over almost every cove i fish. The redfishing and water clarity have increased tremendously IMO. However I wonder, do flounder lay on top of grass beds like they do sand and mud? Any tips for finding flounder amongst the grass? Got an itch to catch a few flatties this weekend!

    All tips appreciated

i always fish the grass or cane for flattys focus on the drains and use a smaller profile lure like a 3 inch chickenboy or a storm are my favorites or a gulp swimming mullet tandem rigged on an1/8 oz jigheads... flounder fishing and eating!! NONE BETTER!!!!!

Never seen a flounder laying on the grass. What I have seen often is a spot were the grass is missing....and the flounder will lay there.

So to approach this you would cast parallel to the shoreline?

Yes or into the drain it the break in the grass line I try to cast as close to the bank or grass and work it back to me slowly jerking the jig on a slack line:beer:

I usually cast in the grass than slow retrieve until it slightly drops in water then bounce of bottom (braid line) or fish parallel.

I use a chartreuse gulp 4 inch curly tail . I bite off a little of the head ( tasty ) to make it a little smaller . More of a chance to have those hard to land flounder take it all in their mouth for a hookset rather than just hang on to the body of a larger lure and then release it just as you try to net it . The scent is a big factor too . I use a 3/8 oz. Jig head to keep it on the bottom and bounce it along .
