  • West Bay Reds - 6/22

Saw my first pod of tailing redfish last Saturday! I've been waiting nearly a decade to see that! There were about 7-8 of them on a frenzy and I chunked a Gulp at em. One twich of the Gulp and BANG, I hooked a G.D. hardhead! Only this guy could cast into a school of reds and pull out a hardhead!!! The pod busted-up when I spooked them, but I was able to get him off the line and cast ahead of where they were moving and managed to pick up one of them before they disappeared. Great day on the water!

Ask Soule about Tailing hardheads. he was the one that taught me about them...He taught me that if you look close enough you can tell the difference from the reds and the HH's by their tales. It's crazy but they tail together quite a bit, so you arn't the only one that's happened to. Go with Soule a trip, he'll show you tons of tailers.

Congrats on your fish too. it's pretty cool to see them.

Thanks fellas, it really was something else! Tailing reds are nothing new to you vets, but seeing it for the first time really was incredible. Can't wait to get back out there!

Last thing I saw tailing was a horse mullet!

That is worse than catching HD on live shrimp. I figured my dad was LOL in heaven.
