  • first timer to Galveston

Long Time reader first time poster! So We are headed to Galveston for the first time in July. I realize gonna be hot with hot water and slower bite. i am not looking for any honey holes just some advice other than fish SLP and DIE. I have been watching the forums and picked up some great tips so far. Bug spray, sun screen, life vest ect. We fish Port A twice or three times a year what should I be looking for in the BiG G area.

Check out the Maps and coordinates to where you are staying ..... Fish the bay shore line way way east of SLP (stay away from slp) or the north line around Jones Bay and the diversionary. We’ve been hooking great reds there from the bank. If you have a boat, leave out of the yach basin , its deep and you wont get stuck being unfamiliar with the bays, fish any structure, beach front is a great recomindation, hit it before sunrise and or post sun set. ---- good luck

That time of year i'd be hitting the surf and the jetties if i didn't have a boat.

Would be well worth the price of admission to hire a guide for at least one day. Give Greg Francis a call he fishes that area and does very well.

If I had a boat i'd head towards trinity or east ...good guide for that area is Capt Brent Juarez... dude knows to catch nice fish (reds and trout) and has done well in recent tourneys...actually he's been on for quite a while.

thanks for the help. we will not be bringing the boat but a few kayaks instead. We are defiantly going with a guide a few days. Was just hoping to put the kids on some mangroves or sandies at night or skipjacks in the surf are great for them. They just love the pull, but I guess thats why we all go!
