Any of you island-dwellers have eyes-on the surf today? I'm debating a trip down tomorrow. I can't really tell too much from the Surfcams....the water looks pretty off-color. Any thoughts? I appreciate it....would save me $50 in gas + bait if it's not worth it. Thanks!

Water color?

I drove to the end of the sea wall this morning to find tainted water. Ended up around galvez and fished about an hour. Surf is laying down pretty good and water was sandy green. B-I-L drove all the way to the pass and said it was chocolate milk. A good tide change could make a difference. Hope this helps.

This morning the water color was pretty off all the way from SLP to the Surfside Jetty (with it getting a little better the closer you got to the jetty). The wind is back with a slight easterly factor (SSE) right now, so maybe that will help, but another factor may be all the nasty water the Brazos is spitting right now. When I went over the Surfside Bridge late Wednesday afternoon, the near in surf, was a bit rough but the color pretty good. However, way out was a wide band of brown water and when I got to the pass it was as filthy as I've seen it this year and stunk to boot.

Water color out here is incredible. I'm on the West End of Anegada though. Just got spooled by a lemon shark on a BIG rod. From 1970-1997, true heaven on Earth existed on the banks of Bayou Cook. "Hey Dad, Thanks for buying the Camp."

Thanks for the info fellas. Since the suf was nasty, we ended up fishing the grass flats on the North shoreline of West Bay by Greens Lake. All I can say is that it was HOT and the outgoing tide was less that stellar. It felt like I was sitting in a bowl of warm soup by 9:30. Only managed one slot red and a handful of sand trout. Also, I've never seen so many stingrays at once in my life. They were stacked up on that grass and you'd spook one about every five yards. Hate those things....
