  • My Generation

I posted this on another thread... I just thought it deserved its own! It's really It's really It's really disappointing to see how disrespectful some of my peers are. I just don't know why it's so hard for them to show respect to those who have authority over them. Not to mention the drug problem, there were multiple kids in my grade sent to ALC for drug possession. Also, there are kids who mess around during the pledge and moment of silence. Thats what pi$$es me off the most. i mean they cant give one minute of their day to show some respect for those who have given everything they have to fight for us and our freedom. It's really sad.

Right there with ya. I know of so many kids my age, 18, whos parents send to $50,000 a month rehab because they drink too much or smoke pot.

At the camp i work at the campers say the pledge everyday. While setting up my activity i take a moment and say the pledge with. Other people dont.

You guys were evidently raised right and I commend you and your families.

We're seeing for the most part a generation now that were brought up without being taught respect for their country, parents, elders, etc...
Most also have either been handed everything either by the government or their parents and have no idea the value of a dollar and no concept of a good work ethic. Makes you wonder where we're headed as a nation huh?

Raise your kids right - that's what you can do to assure you've done your part.

I totally agree with Ibtsoom, a person has to be raised right to be respectful of others, this does not happen anymore in our Country. I have been in almost every state we have except the great North West, and have seen it more often than I would like. It's a shame, because they say" The Children are our Future", if so, we are screwed. I could go on, but I won't, Nuff-Said. Kudos to you two guy's for realizing right from wrong behavior, obviously you get it....

It's the Generation Y thing standing up against the baby boomers and forming our own political views/ opinions. It seems like a lost generation many kids coming out of college and learning their degree doesnt mean **** not to mention a lot of bad attitudes. I must have had that characteristic whopped out of me as a little kid.

Kids dont take school seriously any more. A few kids at my school barely do their work and barely pass. They smoke dope instead. I dont. I work hard because i have been taught that hard work gets you places and i want to be somewhere one day where i am proud of the work i did.

A lot of kids i know have put the ideals that this nation was founded on to the wayside. My school is very far to the left and most of the kids and teachers like the idea of gun control, high taxes and more government regulations. I have been able to keep my values. Because of what i see i fear that this country is headed towards becoming a solid piece of blue. I know many kids that are popular and they supported obama. They did so because it is cool.

I can vouch for Garrett (Mini-x Fan) being a stand up young man. I was fortunate enough to meet Garrett, his brother (I think) and his father sometime back. All great guys. It was "Yes sir....no sir....every time we spoke. You are a class act Garrett!!!

767 - you got your head screwed on right already. Keep setting the example amongst your peers.

I'm 40 years old and yes a bit opinionated but nonetheless fair and honest. I call it like I see it FP3. I'm not the judge. I'm stating facts for which others will be judged eventually. Whether its in a courtroom or by some much higher authority.

My kids are respectful, humble and put others needs before their own because that's how they are being raised --as I was by my parents.

Unfortunately, some of our current society, due to an amalgam of reasons and cause has somewhat (not all together mind you) skewed away from this trend and in the eyes of those of us reared this way -- well, it's disappointing.
