In my best Mel Gibson as William Wallace voice, "FREEDOM!"

This year was pretty tough. There were enough bad ones that they made you forget sometimes how many good ones there were. It's been seven years since I was this relieved after the last day of school.

You mean kids have been released to the street (unsupervised) now?

My wife (at HCC) has been having an increasingly difficult time ...

After attending our graduation ceremony here tonight, it's no wonder why kids show such a lack of respect in general. The problem is the parents. Some of them were downright obnoxious! Who brings air horns to graduation???? You couldn't hear half the kids names because people were making too much noise. I guess I'm just old fashioned. A graduation ceremony should be a solemn occasion. This turd sitting 2 rows behind me was laughing and giggling through the whole national anthem.

To their credit, the school did what they could. The kids made a video that was shown before the ceremony about how people should act at a graduation. It was really good. The administration pleaded with people at the very beginning to show respect and not blow air horns and make noise over the kid's names. That lasted almost to the end of the A's.

Total disrespect on an occasion such as that, shows your lack of couth, social grace and zero manners. The "Turd" Coach spoke of, needs to be drawn-an-quartered then flogged, disgracing our National Anthem like that....Shiite for brains anyway...

I graduated 12 years ago at the age of about 42 from Mainland College with a 2 year degree. Figured I would attend and take my 10 year old son with me to show what hard work can lead to and to maybe give him some inspiration to attend college. My husband and I were floored when we saw how people dressed and acted at the graduation. Last time i attended a graduation it was a solemn, respectful occassion -- now it's like going to a concert or party. I can only imagine what it's like 12 years later.

Glad I wasn't there as I would likely be in jail for putting a knot on that AH's head. I'll let a lot of things slide but when it comes to the National Anthem you had better shut you mouth and show some respect. I didn't give this country 8 of my best years for AH's to not respect the National Anthem. I'm suprised some Vet didn't put an end to his laughing.

Glad you are free from the mess, at least for a little while. Enjoy your summer and let us know when you get back, I got a clock to fix......

This is to funny. When I was in junior high, there were 7th, 8th, and 9th graders. We had one principal, one vice principal, one counselor. The vice principal was the terror of the school. Teachers would put u outside of the classroom and the vice principal would see u. He would give u 10 hits with his belt and take u back to class. Later in life, my mom was a teachers aid at the same school. They had one principal, two vice principals, two or three councelors, three male and two female security guards. All of them couldn't control the 7th, 8th, and 9th graders. I remember back during Woodstock era, somebody asked the question: what is the out come of this era. The philosopher said it would take three to four generations to see the outcome. Well, here we are. no respect for elders or people in charge. Do what u want, because no one can tell u what to do. This is so true. Just look at the prisons today. There are a lot of don't tell me what to do in there. like the lady said, who knows what the future holds. Maybe they'll get an island and put them all there. They can do what ever they want. If they want out, they'll have to swim over 100 miles. We won't have to take care of them, because the sharks will enjoy playing with them. Don't need an electric chair, gas chamber, or injection needle. No jury to convict them. The sharks will be jury, lawyers, judge, executioners. No problem and problem solved. Not being judgemental, but if the leaders of this country don't get control of the situation, we are going to be in a bigger problem. Lord Bless.

It's really dissapointing to see how disrespectful some of my peers are. I just don't know why it's so hard for them to show respect to those who have authority over them. Not to mention the drug problem, there were multiple kids in my grade sent to ALC for drug possession. Also, there are kids who mess around during the pledge and moment of silence. Thats what pi$$es me off the most. i mean they cant give one minute of their day to show some respect for those who have given everything they have to fight for us and our freedom. It's really sad.

I was blessed to see my oldest son graduate with associates degree from COM last month. Yay!
I was totally baffled by the addition of teens in their caps and gowns, their anxious parents scurrying about trying to snap pictures, at a college event. These "graduates" were being honored for getting their GEDs! I was absolutely floored over this happening at a college graduation! Maybe I'm wrong, but I feel if it's necessary to have all the pomp and circumstance over earning a GED, then let them have their own ceremony. I just don't get it.
