  • Mono snapping

I grabbed one of my dads rods last night when I went to the dike for back up and I ended up having to use it. The mono on the spool cost me 3 fish.

The mono snaps and doesn't even stretch. I've never seen that before. The rods are kept in his office inside the house, so it's not from the heat.

Anyone have any ideas? It's 10lb test Suffix, that I spooled less than a month ago.

Get that red cajun line. It sucks for freshwater bass fishing but its great for the salt. It streches like Gumby.

I use 12 lb Suffix. The blue box. Never had that issue unless it was old line or been sitting in the heat. Hmmm...

I like the 12lb Berkley big game. Then a 20lb liter off a swivel depending what I'm doing

Maybe you got some bad line..... That's weird! I have used Berkley Big Game in 10 lb test for over 6 or 7 years and never had that kind of problem. I have used the Suffix to in 10 lb test mono and have never had that kind of problem either. Maybe a bad spool or something????

My reels are loaded with Berkley Big Game, but my dad was told by one of his buddies to try out the Suffix Siege. The remaining line on the spool snaps also, so I went to academy and took out one of the 330 spools and did the same stress test and it didn't budge. The spool must have been mistreated or been on the shelf for a long time before my dad purchased it. Companys that make line should put a made on date, so we as consumers would know what we are buying.
