    Just like clockwork.

Local.gov wants to charge a fee to access the beach.

Common sense is cheaper than a fee to get on the beach.

Quoted from the article "i wouldn't have to watch my kids as much". That is moronic.

The fee would have to be huge to cover the liability insurance. It is very expensive to insure a burning building. Government hubris, nothing less.

Moonpie: I know the City of Freeport annexed at least part of Bryan Beach around 10 years ago. Do Freeport's City Limits extend along the beach all the way to the Mouth of the Brazos now?

Freeport did annex Bryan Beach. They kept it clean for a couple of seasons.
Then they sort of de-annexed it when costs for beach clean-up became too high.
I figured then they were going to initiate a beach entry fee like Matagorda County or Surfside use. For some reason it didn't happen. Now its back.
The poor beach was disgusting yesterday. Literally tons of garbage left laying about. Instead of an entry fee, popping the lazy sobs with a $500.00 littering citation each time would solve two issues at once.

I googled and answered my question. The city limits now include all of Bryan Beach to the MOB and up river to the ICW. They also annexed a narrow strip of beach on Follet's Island just to the east (northeast) of the surfside city limits a few years ago. You are right, Bryan Beach was an absolute filthy mess yesterday. The disrespect that the masses show by littering to that degree is appalling. While the city did have the one way portion of Bryan Beach in beautiful shape by Saturday morning. They need to get their arses out there and get that mess cleaned up! It would also help if they would at least triple the amount of blue trash cans available along the beach, but still the amount of garbage left behind by all those slobs was disgraceful.

SOLUTION: Make it legal to shoot a litterer. Oh, crap, that won't work, the shooter will be shot for leaving the stinkin' bloatin' scumbag's body as "litter". Nevermind.

As soon as Galveston's seawall parking fee goes into effect, Jamaica Beach will then probably be charging a fee as well! Otherwise it would be worse or better, depending on how you look at it, than 16 mile road ever was. You youngsters won't remember that.

Kenny-they already planned to do that and bought the beach buggy and new 4 WD truck, plan to put in lights, a ticket booth and such, but the masses of residents went apesheet and they tabled it for now (but bought the buggy and truck for our 25 police for our 250 house settlement). I guess we got 5 cop cars/trucks, 2 or 3 boats and a beach buggy-my our tax dollars work well if you be police in JB.

Why would we care? We wouldn't have to pay. I'll ask about it at the next council meeting.
