  • I can only ask

I down on vacation next week (May 20-25) in Galveston County visiting my mom & sister escaping the rat race of Austin. I'd like to go out on a flounder gigging boat if someone has an open front spot sometime that week and be more than happy to pay for gas, oil, ice, drinks, snacks, just can't do the walking into an area any longer due to hip replacements and the frequency of dislocating my right hip extremely easy with soft bottoms and such nor can I wade fish for the same reasons. I only been once, but that was many years ago on a guide trip that was not successful.

I gave Bert a holler the other day, but haven't heard from him. This is the first time I have gone out and asked to be taken on a trip, got a lot of pride and my father and grandfather always said if you can't do for yourself or go yourself, never ask someone to do or take you unless they offer first. I can understand since no one on here has met me and may not open themselves up to an unknown, but you will be treated with kindness and the utmost of respect and consideration as I treat the public working at TPWD in Austin. One thing that was taught to us as kids to respect anyone you come in contact with and treat with respect as you would your grandparents and parents.

    Thanks,

    Chris

There are some guides that do it. Look up gigging guides.

Berts in and out these day's and probably hasn't seen your pm, and he works shiftwork making it that much more difficult. I'm not even sure the winds are going to be conducive for flounder gigging...it looks like they will be kicking up some the first of the week(at least the last time I looked). If you're open to pier fishing, there are a few in Galveston you could try, or a few around the bay.
I too have hip replacements and sorry to hear yours are having problems...I know it's a burden, I hope you get through it. If I was off, I'd take you to a few spots that you can actually sit down and fish, but unfortunately...I work shiftwork too, and won't be available. Feel free to contact me next time you plan on coming and maybe we can make something work! Good luck!
      Don't be a Nancy!
If it smells like fish....you know I've been there!

Heard from Bert and he was unable due to working and also overtime. Sandy contacted me also and invited me out to tit/tat but unfortunately, I ended up turning my right ankle Sunday morning a week ago after my nephew's wedding. Spent all week layed up doing squat on my vacation.

Never fails, always something and I was looking forward to trying to get a few trout and reds with my boat and haven't had it out since last July!! That's a shame right there.

        Thanks Flatout for the invitation!

Gonna have to wait for my ankle to heal and swelling to finally go down.
