  • Sunglasses Why Costa???

I went to buy some new sunglasses today and was talking with the sales rep and was going to buy some Costa Del Mar. The rep told me that Costa no longer manufactures their glass with polorized layers. The polorized put on as a final layer unlike Maui Jim which has 7 layers that are actually manufactured in the lens.

I have no clue as to how they make sunglasses or care to know but that got me to thinking. The standard has been Costa for a long time but are there just as good glasses out their for 1/2 the price.

    I would appreciate the advice.

    Thanks

Man, my Academy 20$ joints work pretty dam good. Ive had the Costas, Oakley’s, and a few other "high dollar" glasses and again my best were bought at academy ----- fire orange lenses, in the fishin section.

All I can say is that you have to try them. I used to wear Ray Bans & Nikons but since I tried the Costas I won't go back.

I just bought a pair of Natives for $129 and they seem great. Excited to see them on the water but I'm with you, I'm tired of paying $200+ for the name.

I hated how my costas fit and how they felt heavy on my nose. Found me a pair of polarized spys and am 100% satisfied.

I just got a pair of costa tuna alleys for my wife and I, verry heavy on nose, and the 580 lenses already scratche when they dropped on my lap top. Not impressed

I like my Maui Jim's, didnt know what or how they were made, but I like how they fit and what I see in the water.

Actually, it had nothing to do with how they were built, it was a 'look' thing. And I am currently in the market for a new pair, so for sure will look at those Hobies. This is a great thread.

Costs, in my opinion are over priced. Just like the YetI. The Yeti is a great cooler, but you have to worry about it being stolen just like the Costas

Totally get wat ur sayin but when a cooler is that expensive trust me you won't lose it anywhere and u won't put it out to be stolen

Had my Costas for over a year now , and if I lose these I'll by another pair , I used to get bad headaches from sun glare off the water and haven't had one since I started wearing these
I dont always drink beer, but when i do , I prefer to be fishing !!!!!
