    Howdy all,

I'm going to preface this with a question: Do you vets get aggravated when knuckleheaded greenhorns like me solicit advice on where & when to go? This is the only place I have the nerve to ask, b/c everyone has been cool on here to me over the years. I've been fishing down here for a while now, but you could still just about fill the Grand Canyon with what I don't know about saltwater angling.

Anyway, if the answer is no, I could use some some advice. We're going on a family trip down to the island Thursday - Sunday this week. I'm looking at the weather right now....clear skies, but a howling SE wind most days.

As I understand it, when you say you're fishing a "protected shoreline" that would be the South/Southeast shoreline in this instance, correct? Is that how it works? I don't have a boat, so we'll be wading/kayaking. If that's the case, will anywhere on the South shore of West Bay work? I've pretty much know my way around X-Mas, SLP, GISP, Sea Isle, Sportsman's Road, etc. Is any of them as good as another in these conditions? Which would you try? Any tactical suggestions when I get there?

I truly appreciate all the help I can get from the salts...Thanks!

Keep the wind at your back and the lines tight ! There are some true experts on this site ! My advice is to map out your wadding/kayak spots in advance. Try the south shoreline of west bay near san louis pass depending on the wind direction. Throw plastics and spoons and a few topwaters, few live sheemp under cork wont hurt. If the wind is at your face, fish the beach side...?

PS... i love to fish but im no guide, other people will give valuable advice that you can capitalize on ! Keep it salty

Sometimes when you get a higher wind, the bait will be pushed up on the wind blown shoreline. FP3 gave some good advice!
