$16.99 for 20 lb bottle exchange here in Angleton. I don't know how that translates though. Wish we had Hank Hill around here.

It translates to 8 chickens, 2 pork loins, 12 hambugers, and one redfish on my propane smoker...with a little left over!

That's about $3.60 / gallon. A 20# propane bottle holds roughly 4.7 gallons of propane.

We switched to Greens Blue Flame Gas at work. Great Service! Not sure if they are in Galveston, but we pay less than $2/gallon, but we use 300 gallons/week.

Seems to me it should be cheaper if you're buying it in bulk. I'm paying for the propane, but also for the bottle maintenance over the years. With an exchange, I don't have to worry about rusting or expiring bottles. The only reason you should have to pay even close to what I pay is you're getting on site delivery. By Walker's cipherin', I'm paying $3.60. I'd say find someone who can beat that or switch to small bottles and hit your local Kroger every week for a new one, unless that extra .59 a gallon is worth it for the convenience.

I should have been a little bit more specific. I need to recharge my home tank and i usually buy 100 gallons at a time. Thanks for the tip on Hops but they dont service the West End. FYI, Amerra Gas qouted $2.75 a gallon
