I used to be a Penn only person. Made in the USA! Then they stopped making them here.
Now I say you can't go wrong with Shimano. As for me, I buy cheap ones. I've never paid more than $40 for a rod, nor over $80 for a reel. I've got so many, I don't know what to do with all of them.
