Square Back Canoe AKA Micro Skiff

I just got a 16' American Eagle Squareback canoe. I'm wanting to put a little outboard on it. Im thinking 3.5 to 7 horse. Ive also thought of running a little mudmotor.

has anyone done this? If so do you have any suggestions? Im thinking about building some sort of jack plate.

Thoughts and suggestion are appreciated.

Maybe a small outboard, but seems like mm would be squirrely on a canoe...
