So I've been saving some money to add either a trolling motor or power pole to my boat (2200 purebay). At some point, I'll get both, but since I can only get one right now, I could use some help in figuring this out, and again later with specifics.

My daughter once said that accessorizing was the most important part of and ensemble, and I guess that may apply to a boat too.
I'd think trolling motor, but I hardly ever use mine except to retrieve lures in the shell. I do know the more electronic stuff you have on a boat, the more to break, repair , and replace."GET OFF MY REEF!"

I would go with a minn Kota ipilot. It has anchor and spot lock tha acts like anchor. It locks your GPS coordinates, thus acting like a anchorBryan Evans

Trolling Motor or Power Pole
I have both on my boat but use the IPilot the most. The beauty of the Powerpole in shallow water is there is no noise. The Anchor Lock works great but your motor starts and stops as it tries to keep you in your spot.., which can spook the fish.Originally posted by evansmarine View PostI would go with a minn Kota ipilot. You guys got too much money! Get the trolling motor and a 8 or 10 ft stick pin from Marburgers'. $70.00 or so. Poor man's power pole and very convenient.Captain, Galveston County Blue Team Fish Killers

Get both.
"Hey Hillary, regarding the Benghazi Attack on 9/11-we'll just blame it on that movie, not my total lack of security. By the way, what's so significant about 9/11 anyway-was that a date my buddy Bill Ayers of the Weather Underground blew up a government building?" asked Obama to Hillary. Thanks guys for the input, I can't say I'm decided, but I am leaning toward the motor. I've seen some some guys doing well working drop offs on a troll, and would like to learn to do the same. Anyhow, I'm gearing up to go out this weekend and hope to have some pics to share with you guys after
the weekend.
Cheers
