Trcuk Question-need recommendations

I have the chance to get a 2006 4 door 2500 Dodge diesel for free. Problem is engine overheated (but was running) and guy took to mechanic to check out and rebuild if necessary. mechanic tore engine apart and then had major health issues and cannot finish the job, so engine is sort of in pieces. I figure I could drop a 5.4 Cummins rebuilt in it and use for second truck. It is 4 WD. 180,000 miles, but transmission is good, injectors were just replaced and other than engine, in general good shape for a 7 y.o. truck.

Any recommendations on where to take it for getting fixed and any ideas on labor costs? I know I can get a long block 5.4 Cummins from South Houston Engines for $4350, but how much will pulling old, dropping new engine and reattaching all the stuff cost? Any ideas or thoughts
