  • Tom Bass Park????

I am going to take the little one for rainbow trout round 3 this weekend. The question I have is the different lakes. It says they stocked Tom Bass III ON january 3 with 1700. That looks like a pretty big lake. Then it says they stock Tom Bass I every two weeks with about 900. When I look at the arial it seems as if Tom Bass I is either a really small lake or nothing there at all. Are the maps wrong or is TBI much smaller than TBIII?

Tom Bass III is large. Tom Bass I is tiny compared to most of the ponds stocked. I don't think they release 900 each time, I think they release that many total. I could be wrong about that, but I rarely catch fish if I don't show up the day or the day after they stock it.

TB1 is a really small pond. Lots of cat tails and reeds around the perimater. If I remember, it is very close to a picnic pavilion. I have taken the kids and caught small bream out of TB1.

TB3 is a large lake and very deep in the middle. I think someone told me it was a sand pit at one time. There is one end with a big log in it. I always did well panfishing around that log.

It's been a year or so since I have been there. Good luck. Let me know how it goes.

I would give the hatchery a call before going to Tom Bass I to see when it was last stocked and when it will be stocked again. Tom Bass I holds the larger trout as well. You may get to hook into a trout over 13 inches. (East Texas State Fish Hatchery) - 409/698-2052. In previous years, it was A.E. Woods that stocked Tom Bass I and they would stock the same fish they release at the Canyon Lake Tailrace.

Day late and a dollar short. The amount of birds that hit that lake, and the pressure the first week will pretty much guarantee that you will bee wasting your time. If you decide to go, I wish you the best of luck.

It says they stock TBI every two weeks. That is what had me thinking. I am going to call and see. I used to fish crenshaw park for weeks after they stocked it when I was growing up. The only problem is that they only stocked 500 this year instead of the regular 1500.

Ok figured it out TBI gets stocked every two weeks and it is only 100 something. Not really worth the trip. Guess I will have to figure out somewhere else to take her.

Yes sir. They put in 123 at a time over there. The old timers are there waiting. You can see clear to the bottom all the way around the little pond. I went twice the Satuday after they stocked it and could not see a single fish in there. Take her to the salt my friend and put her on some more of those redfish she likes to catch.

That would be easy if it was just us. My brother-in-law and his daughter are coming in town and want to go fishing also. Crap....

Sheldon State Park Children's #1 may still have some rainbows in their pond. You have to have children to fish the pond and you have to let the park officials know how many fish were taken. Well that was the way it was back when I was able to fish there. You could probably call the park ranger there and see if it's worth the drive. (281) 456-2800

Thanks. She has already had two successful rainbow trout trips this year and I really don't want to drive that far for some little fish. I am probably going to bring them somewhere close and get them some shrimp. My little one won't fish shrimp. She will only throw plastics. I can't wait until she gets old enough to go wading with me. Or maybe we will hit crenshaw again and have a rod or two out there for catfish also.
