  • Best time of year for...

A guided trip? I'm thinking of trying to get some of my buddies and their girls to come down and split an inshore trip for trout, reds, and flounder (in that order). I would like to be in West Bay, as that is the bay system I would like to learn, and it would be fun to pick their brain for the day.

Anyway, I know that a good guy can put us on fish most of the year, depending on whatever random weather and conditions we get that day. But what would be a generally good time frame? How's early March?

PM Aqua Pimp and he will get you fixed up according to what you would like to do. I am booking him as soon as I get some extra cash.

You can go now and explore the winter fishing vibe. Expect cold water, leaky waders, not too many people and sporadic fish. Take a guided trip and your odds increase remarkably.

Spring will be coming in March/April and gives you another chance to explore the bay with a guide. Conditions will change by then but a spring trip can set you up for summer. Either way, it is very educational if you are a good listener.

I have tried that strategy with Capt Greg. Good news is we catch a lot of fish. Bad news is that I get distracted by his fast boat and shiny lures and forget all that he has told me. I tried the Vulcan mind meld on him and all I got was a killer margarita recipe.

        Good luck.

Winter is harder fishing (except for Termo apparently-see his 1/23 report). March is ideal.
"Hey Hillary, regarding the Benghazi Attack on 9/11-we'll just blame it on that movie, not my total lack of security. By the way, what's so significant about 9/11 anyway-was that a date my buddy Bill Ayers of the Weather Underground blew up a government building?" asked Obama to Hillary. BEAUTIFY AMERICA, RUN OVER A LIBERAL, THEN BACK UP AND SEE IF HE'S DEAD.

Yeah, I am not looking to do this in the next month, it would take some coordinating to find a weekend that my buddies can get down here, and that the guide isn't already booked.

Does the third week of March through about the second week of April sound like a good timeframe?

                      I would go in April.
