Sassy style that drives you crazy . . . all the way-hay, from Bourbon Street to Esplanade, they sashay by, they sashay by.
Well, if anyone remembers that old song from Louisiana's LaRoux, then you know what it means. Had a good coupla days since I got home from Yankee Country. Met this girl here and we've been out a few times. I've got some deep seated reservations about doing the long distance thing again, but it sure is nice for the time being.
Dad's been workin' my arse off in my mother's super overgrown back yard. He hired some guys to cut down a bunch of trees and I get to do all the cleanup. I'll be happy to get back to workin' on the Bayou.
New York/New Jersey really was a great time. Had a lot of fun with my bro and his family. I already went over some of that here, so I won't bore you with more "Uncle Sandy" details. Unfortunately the last part of my trip was not all that good. I got dropped off at LaGuardia only to wait there for a seemingly interminable amount of time for my oft delayed flight. Other people had it worse than me though. So I slogged through the boredom and then . . . . .
I'm standing there, waiting, hoping, that they will actually finally board my flight when I look over to my left and see a familiar face. It's this girl I dated in college, and man does she still look GOOD. Funny story, our first date, she actually threw up ON me at the restaurant. No problem, she felt better after that and I wouldn't let her be embarrassed about it. I took her to this bar/game room/grill/laundramat I knew her in N.O. and washed/dried my pants while I played pool with her in my boxers. We dated until she got kicked out of school for grades. Another one of the many girls I went out with in college that I really had no business being with.
So I walk over and say her name. She looks up and almost falls out of her chair. We talked for a while and things are goin' great. I'm thinkin', "Dear Penthouse", since we're waiting on the same flight. Dad gum if right after I thought of that, she wakes up the guy next to her and introduces him as her HUSBAND
Ah well, it was fun seeing her anyway.
So I get home, dad puts me to work, I go out with this other girl I mentioned. The food is goooooood. Po-boys and berled seafood of various descriptions. Dad and I are headed out to a friend's camp in Grand Bayou this weekend. I can hardly wait to be out there again. It's pretty close to my old stompin' grounds in Bayou Cook. Try as we might, Dad and I have only fished one day together this Summer. It looks like this weekend will be the only time to get it done. Headed back to Texas on the 12th I believe.
I'll be postin' up a Blockade Runners invite as soon as I'm sure when I'll be there. I miss y'all, but things are going great here in the Big Easy. The only really tough times I have to deal with every couple of days is tackling the job nobody else in my family wants to do, and that's going through my grandmother's things. I get so darn depressed doing that I just hate to even go over there. Hopefully I'll finish that tomorrow. - Sandy
