  • My favorite baits

I thought I'd post a pic of my favorite wintertime baits and see what others view as theirs. Top row for clearer water and bottom row (darker colors) for cloudy or muddy water. These are trout baits. As you can tell, I like rattails because of the erratic tail action (my favorite color is morningglory...then I dye the tails white...heck, I dye the tails white on almost EVERYTHINGClick image for larger version

I only ask that if you use one of these baits, remember that the fish with the little spots along their back belong to me, so please throw them back in! Hope this helps the less experienced of you.....for the old timers, you already have your favorites.

What about dead skrimp and cut bait? Heard that with a 8 oz pyramid weight is really good for huge trout in the surf.

hell dummy, i can't even afford a baitcaster much less live bait, i usually just troll a bunch of hooks behind my boat to kill some critters then i blend em up and put em on an 20 ought circle square hook connected to a pyramid weight the proceed to whack em. typically all my PBJ's have came in 5in of just pure mud.
