They changed over today after a two week trial. The RSS Reel Report bot, here, hasn't had an update since the trial period started.

What a way to run a paper - guess the ad revenue isn't enough to keep the site free.

I'll assume the West End site is not going to subscribe and feed the Reel Report. IMHO I wouldn't pay.

Yep, kinda sux they did that. Now it is worthless to me.
"Hey Hillary, regarding the Benghazi Attack on 9/11-we'll just blame it on that movie, not my total lack of security. By the way, what's so significant about 9/11 anyway-was that a date my buddy Bill Ayers of the Weather Underground blew up a government building?" asked Obama to Hillary. BEAUTIFY AMERICA, RUN OVER A LIBERAL, THEN BACK UP AND SEE IF HE'S DEAD.

The weather report is still active, it's a feed from weather.com.

Try this local station for current conditions:

The last good newspaper in Texas. Done for.

I'll say it too. I read the GDN online almost every day. Good local paper covering local issues. I'll miss reading it.

I subscribed when I first moved to Galveston but I let it lapse because it was so lame. The online version was even worse. I'm sorry they went for the pay wall, but if I don't spring for the New York Times there's little chance I'd spend my money on the GDN.

the reel report had to be one of their top traffic draws... would have been smart to keep it free or nominal cost... like $25 per year reel report only subscription. this pay to play is their last ditch effort to profits and probably will fall flat. i like kents column, but wont pay $168 a year for a pargraph on bait camp reports and anecdotes.

                      sigh.....

I agree, they could have paid advertisers to help support it. I'm sure Joe had no say so in it. Reel dumb move on their part, papers need to come up with a new business model if they want to survive. TV dug the grave and the internet will put the nails in the coffin if they don't.
