Thanks guys for your tips! With our yalls help I would have just bought the 114H combo at Gander.

Where can I aquire a scale to measure the drag?
I can only tell you what I personally do. I don't "topshot" my braid with mono. I know some of the "Beach/Surf" rodders do this. I never have done this. I use straight braid and I used a shock leader according to what I am going after. Currently, all my big rigs are shark ready with 150lb mono leaders. I normally can catch 5 or 6 sharks before the mono leader is toast.
As far as using a scale, I haven't used one lately. What I now do is put the rod in the rod holder and tie the end of the line to a wood dowel. Pull the line and when the rod starts to bend in half, loosen the drag until it starts to slip. This is what I do for a starting point. Not to tight, not too loose. In theory, you will adjust your drag for every fish you hook.
As for the 114H Combo at Gander, Great rig, we have logged probably 50 sharks and bull reds with the current two rigs we have, not once has these two rigs failed.
