    Motorcycle Rally Weekend

    Use this thread as an opportunity to rant about just how much you appreciate having Motorcycle Rally Weekend in Galveston during prime fishing time!

    Our place is in Pirates Cove and some of the choppers we can hear from all the way to the Causeway not to mention on 3005/San Luis Pass Road.

    Also, if you are a biker, please explain the "loud as possible exhaust pipe" thing to me.

    I'm with you on the obnoxious pipes. I live between the one way streets so I'm surrounded. We usually pack in the groceries and rent a few movies and then just stay in for the weekend.
    The Harley riders will tell you "Loud pipes save lives" but if that were true, no motorized vehicle would have mufflers.

        Once you ride a bike with loud exhaust you will understand.

              Opening of Bambi killing for me-die Bambi DIE!!! I don't give a darn about the LS Rally-if they'd come down my street with nekkid ladies, I may watch, but some I've seen are comparable to me or Curmudgeon in a speedo-you'd want some sulfuric acid to throw into your eyes.

                Our place is 500' from FM3005 and you can feel the ruumblers shaking our timbers.
                But, I've got no real beef, since I'm from Milwaukee and passed the factory on a daily basis when going to high school.

                    There are some good ones.... But most of em arent fun to look at, unless they are the big girls. Love me some big cougars.

                        Been riding Harleys for 40 years (still have 6) and it pisses me off when some idiot thinks he has to rack his pipes so everybody will notice him. Probably bought it last week. You know what they say..."Used to be Outlaws on Harleys, now most are Outlawyers." I don't even want to IMAGINE what Robalo looks like in a Speedo, probably like me.."needs ironing".

                          I am on my third Harley...the pipes have nothing to do with getting people to notice...they just enhance that oneofakind Harley heartbeat! Rolling the knuckles and hearing her gurgle is second to none! My two hobbies are fishing and rolling on the hog!

                            I've been riding since 1975. Yes, loud pipes DO save lives. Motorists hear you coming and give you room. Otherwise, someone will change lanes on top of you, no doubt about it.

                            The good part is, bikers don't use boat ramps or traverse the water on their bikes. Happy fishing!

                              That's a very ignorant statement. You obviously don't ride.

                              So, if a car runs into another car, someone dies??? Probably not! But if a car runs into a motorcycle does someone die??? Probably!

                              Motorcyles have a distinct disadvantage when tangling with other(larger) vehicles. The loud pipes just help even the odds.
