I know that some of you fish with the H2O Mettle and I wanted to share something that I've seen on several of these reels in the past 6 months or so.
I've seen excessive wearing on the clutch pawl within the reel itself. This is the piece that the anti-reverse ratchet engages when you depress the clutch bar(thumb button when casting). What's happening is the anti-reverse ratchet is literally grinding this clutch pawl down to where you can't re-engage the reel when turning the handle.
So if you're experiencing this then the clutch pawl is more than likely the culprit. And since we can't get repair parts for this you will have to take it back to Academy. I've taken several back in the past months and they just exchange them. Academy will do this until they realize they are paying more for the returns than what they are making in sales and discontinue the reel. But until then just return the reel.
Hope that helped anyone out there.
