  • Wade Fishing - West Bay

    Good Morning Everyone,

I was wondering if anyone can shoot some good wading spots out my way. I went out last Saturday morning, 09/22, and came up empty out off of Sportman's Road. I was throwing plastics, so I may have had a bait issue as well.

    Any assistance is much appreciated!

Fishing will get better in the coming weeks. Even sportsman road. Try some access points where you can get to the water off 3005 or the state park, maybe behind the pass.

      Thank you for the info!

I see a number of coves down 3005 closer to the pass, so I may check those spots out this weekend. I am wading out from the road, so I do not have the luxury of riding out in a boat to some better spots. Any suggestions on bait?

        Welcome aboard.
Last Saturday was tough if you weren't out before daylight. I prefer to fish with lures, but you can hardly beat live shrimp on a popping cork.
Pick up a Hook & Line wading and kayaking map and start mapping out spots. It's a really good idea to go scope out your locations before you plan to fish them. Take an afternoon and drive around and check out some spots to see what the access and area is like so you'll be ready when the time is right.
        Good luck.

Appreciate the advice, I prefer using lures myself. I knabbed a Hook and Line fishing map a couple days before, and Sportman's Rd. was my first stop/area. I usually go out on a buddy's bayboat in Matagorda, but I want to find spots in Galveston for myself. I was thinking about Chocolate Bay/Bayou as well, but I will scout out the access points beforehand which is a great idea. Thank you for the help!

Another thing you may want to try is joining the tournament we have coming up in October...get on someone's team...that way you get to meet some new guys and see some places to fish at the same time...then come hang out with us at the weigh in...

That's a great idea. I have a friend that has a bay house in Galveston, and I will check to see if he is fishing the tourney.
