GPS App

I have the iPhone and wanted to add an app and use that as the GPS as opposed to the standard one I have on the boat. Keep thinking that within a year or two the older units will no longer be in use at all...

I have used iMaps before during some dense fog and it worked but wanted to see who has experience with any others...

....there is one from Navionics that is available, however since I do things on the cheap I simply used the free walking app from Google as it overlays your position as well as tracks on to Google Earth. Works quite well I might add as I used it to find my way back to the Manvel Mob Cook Off from over here.

GPS App

I had Navionics on my Samsung phone and it was horrible! I'd be sitting in the middle of greens and it would tell me I was still in Friendswood. I would have to delete and re-install the app multiple times to get it to work. On my iPhone I use "Flytomap Texas". I wasn't going to give Navionics another shot. I know it's cheaper than Navionics but I can't remember how much it was. So far it works great! I have no complaints so far with it and I've been using it for about 3 months.

I use Motion X on my iPhone. It works great but it puts a drain on the battery.

X2 on the Motion X-You can buy the $10 or $12 version and if a buddy buys it, you can see each other's positions while out fishing-really cool.

google maps works for me up to a 3 ft accuracy ........
