    Big or small?

I catch and release. No one in my family except me likes seafood so I just enjoy the hunt and hope they continue to grow and let me catch them again.

I will let my wonderful wife who's father ,a well loved Texas State Representative (Republican), passed 2 months ago. Thank you. Man actually made one of my lifelong fishing dreams come true, fishing in the HL&P Lakes where I turned loose 99.9999% of the countless fish I caught and got to speak about handling fish, why I didn't want the fat 5+lb trout laden with eggs going into a land locked lake, etc.

I fish 3-4 days a week year round and release over 99% of what I catch only retaining what will not make it due to deep hooks or what I might win another boat off of. I quite often pinch barbs back on my hooks so I can release next to the boat without handling the fish removing slime etc. I will say that this year I have landed more fish in the 5.5-7.5 pound range in the Galveston Bay Complex than I have since probably 01-04. That is just what I have come across and have changed things in my fishing as fishing tons of water I have never fished.Humans are creatures of habit and can get bogged down fishing the same handful of "spots". I try to avoid my past honey holes and the flotillas in order to wade and learn new bottom or structure.... I could go on but bottom line is that we have a very healthy fishery IMO.
