Was out on Sunday afternoon with the wife, started off by catching a half a dozen dinky specs. Then around 4pm, casting from shallow water into the channel, got into some big ladyfish, 20+ inches. Gotta tell you, it was quite spectacular.
Those fish would bust out of the water, thrashing and flailing, what an aerial show! We hooked into about a dozen over a 30 minute period, but only managed to land three. Some of them, after putting on the aerial display, and once we got them turned toward to the boat, would just charge straight at us, go zipping past, and then start making the drag scream, then back to the acrobatics, and more often than not, would sling the hook out. Also had a couple break the 12 lb mono.
I had never caught big ladyfish before, had caught small ones, maybe 12 inchers, and didn't even know they got big. I hope we can get into them big'uns again sometime. Was terrific fun!
And that is a ladyfish, right?
